Slyter Earns Heart Women’s Wrestler of the Week Honors

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Sophomore grappler Kylee Slyter was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Wrestler of the Week following her performance in No. 19 Baker's 32-15 victory over (RV) Missouri Valley on Wednesday.

Ranked 20th in the NAIA at 109 pounds, Slyter defeated the Vikings' Hailey Holland, who ranks 12th nationally, on a 4-2 decision to move the Paola, Kan. native to 15-12 overall on the year. It was the first of five wins for BU against the Vikings in its first conference home dual of 2024.

Slyter becomes the second straight Wildcat to earn the weekly conference award after teammate Katherine Heath won last week's honor. In her first season at Baker, Slyter finished top-six at the Heart Championships last year.

Up next, Slyter and the Wildcats will compete in a non-conference dual against No. 15 Ottawa on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilson Field House in Ottawa, Kan.
