Wildcats Collect Eight Top-Six Finishes at Missouri Baptist Open

ST. LOUIS - The Baker women's wrestling team was in action on Friday, competing in the Missouri Baptist Open where they came away with a total of eight placement finishes at the single-day tournament.

The Wildcats had eight wrestlers earn top-six finishes in St. Louis with Emmale Americano's runner-up honors at 235 pounds highlighting the trip.

Katherine Heath (117) and Nevaeh Wardlow (180) recorded third-place finishes with Heath racking up four wins and Warldow winning by pin to move onto the third-place match.

Both Americano and Wardlow fell in their first bouts of the tournament before winning their next three matches. Heath was able to claim some revenge after falling in the quarterfinals to Norah Swaim of McKendree, pinning Swaim in the placement match to take third.

Johanna Carrasco joined Wardlow in the 180-pound bracket and placed fourth with a win by decision in her second match of the day.

Liz Cope (160), Veronica Greene (103), Aileya Sath (131) and Sophia Yorko (180) all finished in sixth in their respective brackets. Cope recorded three wins, pinning three straight opponents before falling in the fifth-place match.
