Baker alum Alex Fortuna joins the Baker Wildcat women’s wrestling staff for his first year ahead of the 2023-24 season, returning to his alma mater on the mats. Fortuna comes to Bake after coaching at Park Hill South in Missouri.

Fortuna has been around a lot of high-level wrestling and coaching opportunities. He coached and mentored Missouri star Maddie Kubicki, who went 157-0 in her four years at Park Hill South, winning 4 Missouri state titles. She also went on to win the U20 World Team Trials, after placing 3rd in the U 18 World Team Trials last year. With the trials win, Kubicki earned the right to compete overseas in Spain and Poland representing Team USA. She also was 3rd place at Fargo.

Fortuna has been summer coaching with clubs in both Folkstyle and Freestyle. He lives in Baldwin City with his wife Lyndsay.
