Allen Named Heart Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Brooke Allen of Baker women's cross country was selected as the Heart of America Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Competing at the Southern Stampede, Allen placed seventh overall on a time of 19:44.33 to pace a BU women's squad that finished third in the team standings on Friday. The 5K race, hosted by Missouri Southern, featured over 105 runners and 11 teams with Baker totaling 73 points to earn its third-place finish.

Allen, a senior out of LaCygne, Kan., is coming off a 2022 season that saw her secure a spot at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships. She finished fifth in her first race of the year at the Baker U Rust Buster on Sept. 2.

Allen and the Wildcats will take a week off to gear up for their next event with a trip to Columbia, Mo. for the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m.
