BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After starting south division play with a 2-0 record, the No. 21 Baker football team picked up their first divisional loss of the season on Saturday as they fell to No. 14 Benedictine, 30-6 on senior day.

Prior to kickoff, Baker University recognized nine seniors that have played a vital role in restoring the order. Those seniors include Alex Berg, Jayden Brown, Rashaan Graves, Kirby Grigsby, Rocky Juarez, Tony Kennedy, Jalen Nash, Caleb Nelson and Shane Skwarlo.

Baker was able to pick up 328 yards of total offense on the day, but was unable to find the endzone. Truman Juesgaard went 14-for-24 passing for 129 yards, while he also led the team with 159 rushing yards. Gabe Martin finished second on the team with 32 rushing yards.

Defensively, the Wildcats were led in tackles by Shane Skwarlo and Thad Metcalfe who had 12 and 10 tackles respectively. Metcalfe also led the team with 2 tackles for loss in the game.

Baker got off to a slow start early and after fumbling the opening kickoff, the Ravens scored in five plays to take a 7-0 lead. After another fumble on the ensuing kickoff, the Ravens kicked a 28-yard field goal to extend their lead to 10-0 less than five minutes into the game.

After both teams traded punts, another fumble by Baker gave the Ravens the ball back and the Ravens tacked on another field goal to lead 13-0.

Baker then put together a strong 13 play, 72-yard drive that ended in a 41-yard field goal for Seth Simpson and got Baker on the board, cutting the lead to 13-3 which held until the second half.

Two minutes into the third quarter, Benedictine added another touchdown, but Baker was able to get another field goal from Simpson, this time from 31 yards as the Ravens led 20-6. Before the end of the game, the Benedictine put up 10 more points as the Wildcats fell to Benedictine, 30-6.
