Baker Football Announces 2024 Signing Class

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Coming off a Heart South Championship and the lone representative for the Heart South in the NAIA National Playoffs, head coach Miguel Regalado and the Baker University football staff have announced the 2024 Baker football signing class.

"I've always felt it is important in recruiting to take care of your backyard and fill your team with players from winning programs that are serious about getting their degree," said Regalado. "I feel like we met all of those goals with this class."

The class currently has 38 student-athletes who have signed although Regalado noted "the staff is still putting the finishing touches on it."

28 of the signees are from the state of Kansas, six are from Missouri, while the states of Oklahoma, California and Arizona are also represented. The class boasts a cumulative 3.48 GPA.

"The football staff would like to thank the Baker University Faculty, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Food Services departments as well as everyone else at our great university that make our student-athletes feel so welcome on their visits," expressed Regalado.

In his first year back on the Baker sideline, Regalado and the Wildcats went 9-3 overall in 2023 and reached the NAIA playoffs for the 20th time in school history, earning a home playoff win over Louisiana Christian in the first round of the NAIA FCS.

2024 Baker Football Signing Class

Jeremiah Adams - Athlete

5'6 | 165 | Phoenix, Arizona | McClintock High School

With quick feet and great speed Jeremiah is electric with the ball in his hands. At 5'6 and 165 pounds he has no problem running the ball between the tackles and averaged over 7 yards per carry in 2023. Jeremiah is the son of Keisha and Taiwan Adams.

Tristan Baker – Running Back

5'9 | 170 | Shawnee, Kansas | Mill Valley High School

Tristan is a very patient but explosive running back. He does a fantastic job of being patient to the hole and then exploding through it and getting vertical to the endzone. Tristan was the leading rusher for Mill Valley with over 1,600 yards and helped lead the Jaguars to an 11-2 record and State Championship in 2023. Tristan is the son of Tamalee and Joe Baker.

Maveryk Becker – Receiver

Maveryk is relentless and very difficult to bring down when the ball is in his hands. In addition to Receiver he played Defensive Back, Running Back, Quarterback and even returned punts for the Panthers. Maveryk is the son of Monica and Royce Becker.

Alexander Beggs – Running Back

5'10 | 185 | Alma, Kansas | Wabaunsee High School

Alex averaged over 6 yards per carry in 2023 for the Chargers. He also had 10 tackles for loss on defense and helped lead Wabaunsee to an appearance in the Class 1A playoffs. Alex is the son of Heather and Thomas Beggs.

Bayler Bell – Linebacker

Bayler is a versatile and physical defender that has shown he can play in space as well as set an edge on the line of scrimmage. He led the Wildcats in tackles for loss and helped De Soto reach the Regional round of the Class 5A State Playoffs. Bayler is the son of Allison and Erik Bell.

Sam Boetcher – Running Back

Sam is a fearless runner that possesses the speed to finish runs when he breaks into the open field. He was the leading rusher for Basehor with over 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns and helped lead the Bobcats to the Sectionals of the 4A State Playoffs. Sam is the son of Audrey and Jason Boetcher.

Tyler Bono – Running Back

5'9 | 190 | Overland Park, Kansas | Blue Valley West High School

Tyler is a powerful runner that loves the weight room. When he gets his shoulders square he has the ability to show a different speed. Tyler helped Blue Valley West reach the Regional Round of a very tough 6A State Playoff Bracket. Tyler is the son of Stephanie and Dave Bono.

Kenneth Colston - Quarterback

Kenneth was a dual threat at Quarterback for the Bombers in 2023. He threw for over 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns as well as ran for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns in leading Midwest City to a Class 5A State Playoff appearance. Kenneth is the son of Toyia Robinson.

Thomas Cromer – Offensive Lineman

6'2 | 260 | Lawrence, Kansas | Eudora High School

Thomas is consistently the first lineman off the ball and comes off with great pad level. He is a nasty finisher in the run game but also has incredible athletic ability which allows him to get out and pull and lead the way in the open field. Thomas is the son of Rebecca Barnes and Paul Cromer.

William Dorsey – Quarterback

6'1 | 180 | Wellsville, Kansas | Wellsville High School

William will stand in the pocket and throw a great deep ball and has the ability to extend plays with his feet making him a very effective runner when needed. He threw for 39 touchdowns his senior season leading the Eagles to a 9-1 record and the Regionals of the Class 3A playoffs. William is the son of Laura and Brent Dorsey.

Chance Garber – Linebacker

5'10 | 180 | Edgerton, Missouri | North Platte R-1 High School

Chance was a tackling machine in 2023 averaging 13 tackles/game and leading the Panther defense to a 12-2 record and a Class 1 State Championship appearance. He was also 2nd on the team in sacks with five. Chance is the son of Shannon and Ken Garber.

Joshua Gonzalez – Punter

Joshua played offensive and defensive line as well as punted for the State Champion Thunder in 2023. He will concentrate on punting in college for Baker. Joshua has a leg that is capable of flipping the field position every time he punts. Josh is the son of Katie Stull and comes from a long line of Baker graduates.

Jordan Hall – Defensive Back

5'11 | 175 | Oak Grove, Missouri | Oak Grove High School

Jordan had an incredible year for the Panthers in 2023. He rushed for over 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns while playing Quarterback and was 2nd on the team in tackles with 54 solo stops. Jordan led the Panthers to a 2nd round appearance in the Class 3 Missouri State Playoffs. Jordan is the son of Jonelle and Eric Hall.

Colton Hawkinson – Receiver/Tight End

Colton is a big play threat that can beat you attached to the line of scrimmage where he was a 1st Team All Sunflower League Tight End or spread out where he was an Honorable Mention All-State Receiver. He averaged 27 yards per reception in helping the Trailblazers to their 1st ever State Championship. Colton is the son of Jessica and Eric Hawkinson.

Gage Hayden – Athlete

5'10 | 175 | Eudora, Kansas | Eudora High School

Gage had a prolific senior season playing Quarterback for the Cardinals. He signed with Washburn to compete in Track and Field when he came out in the class 2022. With his athletic ability it will just be a matter of time before Gage finds his way on the field for the Wildcats. Gage is the son of Katy and Kyle Hayden.

LeBryan Hayes – Receiver

5'9 | 160 | Mustang, Oklahoma | Mustang High School

LeBryan has the ability to play the inside and outside receiver position. He has a good takeoff and is very slippery and difficult to tackle in space with the ball in his hands. LeBryan also returned punts for the Broncos. LeBryan is the son of Sheena Duncan and Deangelo Hayes.

Braylen Hoobler – Running Back

5'10 | 208 | Eudora, Kansas | Eudora High School

Braylen is a physical runner that also catches the ball well out of the backfield. He was also a very good Linebacker for the Cardinals in 2023. Braylen is also an accomplished Power Lifter squatting 500lbs and Power Cleaning 300lbs. Braylen is the son of Victoria and Preston Hoobler.

Tony Jacobsen – Running Back

5'10 | 195 | Lawrence, Kansas | Lawrence High School

Tony was a significant contributor on both sides of the ball playing Running Back and Defensive Back for the 7-3 Lawrence Lions in 2023. He is a surprisingly smooth runner averaging over 7 yards per carry at almost 200lbs and triggers very well from the secondary. Tony is the son of Robin and Terry Jacobsen.

JamarRe'Air Jarrett – Receiver

5'9 | 170 | Kansas City, Kansas | Piper High School

JamarRe'Air has been a versatile player for Piper over his career. The Pirates threw him the ball, handed him the ball and watched him impact a game by returning the football in the kicking game. He averaged 25 yards per reception in 2023. JJ is the son of TiQuanda Royster and James Jarrett.

Cyrus Johnson – Linebacker

Cyrus is a high motor defender that is comfortable with his hand down as well as standing up as an edge player which will make him a very versatile player in college. He led the defense and the Indians to a 7-3 record and a Regional appearance in the Class 5A playoffs in 2023. Cyrus is the son of Jan Johnson.

Vincent Jones – Linebacker

Vincent is a very athletic and active linebacker that has shown some very good ball skills pulling in 3 interceptions for the Paola defense. Vinny is a weight room guy and will be physically ready to compete for the Wildcats on day one. Vincent is the son of Debbie and Jeff Jones.

Justin Kalilikani – Defensive Line

Justin is a high motor Defensive Lineman that has showed he can play both inside as well as on the edge, while at St. James Academy. He recorded 24 total tackles and 5 tackles for loss in 8 games for the Thunder in 2023. Justin is the son of Cheri and Joe Kalilikani.

Liam Kays – Kicker

Liam is passionate about being a great specialist and he puts in a ton of work on his own time. He went 43-48 on extra points and 2-3 on field goals for Lee's Summit North and was selected 2nd Team All-Conference Kicker for the Broncos in 2023. Liam is the son of Rachel and Gabriel Abreo.

Benjamin Kerr – Linebacker

5'10 | 195 | Iola, Kansas | Iola High School

Benjamin excelled on both sides of the ball for Iola in 2023. He led the team in tackles at Linebacker and rushed for almost 500 yards as a Running Back for the Mustangs. He was selected All-League at both positions in 2023. Ben is the son of Camille and Doug Kerr.

Colin Ketter – Defensive Line

6'1 | 200 | Kansas City, Kansas | Piper High School

Colin's best football is ahead of him as he deals with off-season surgery. He's got a good get off, has long arms and plays with a great motor. Colin tallied 51 solo tackles at the Defensive End position with 16 of those tackles being for loss. He also notched 6 sacks for the Pirates. Colin is the son of Mandi and Josh Ketter.

Brody Lee – Receiver

5'10 | 150 | Wellsville, Kansas | Wellsville High School

Brody is a smooth, confident receiver that knows how to play the game. He possesses big play ability averaging over 19 yards per reception to go along with 11 receiving touchdowns for the Eagles in 2023. Brody joins Wellsville teammates William Dorsey and Dezmond Winton in the class of 2024 for the Wildcats. Brody is the son of Megan and Jeremy Lee. 

Jackson Marlar – Defensive Line

6'3 | 285 | Newton, Kansas | Newton High School

Jackson is a big and powerful Defensive Lineman that lives in the weight room. He's athletic enough to win one on one but strong enough to take on a double team. He was an Ark Valley All League 2nd Team Defensive Lineman for the Railroaders in 2023. He is the son of Sarah Weeks and Patrick Moore.

Joseph Minchello – Running Back

5'7 | 208 | San Diego, California | Crawford High School

Joseph had an incredible senior campaign for the Colts. He had over 1000 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns at the Running Back position and also led the team in tackles averaging 10 per game leading Crawford to the San Diego Football Championships. Joseph is the son of Leslie and Anthony Minchello.

Max Nichols – Defensive Line

With a great summer, Max has the ability to impact the Baker University defense quickly in his career. He has a long frame, is very physical and athletic and plays every 6 seconds to his full capability. Max was a part of a dominating defense that led the Trailblazers to their first ever State Championship in 2023. He is the son of Amber and Matt Nichols. 

Cameron Porter – Defensive Back

5'9 | 165 | Gardner, Kansas | Gardner Edgerton High School

Cameron was a part of a defense that gave up over 20 points just once all season on their way to a State Championship. He's highly intelligent, extremely athletic and not afraid to tackle which makes him perfect for the Baker secondary. Cameron had 40 solo tackles to go along with 10 pass break ups and 2 interceptions in 2023. He is the son of Jennifer and Trey Porter.

Elijah Porter – Defensive Back

5'9 | 165 | Gardner, Kansas | Gardner Edgerton High School

The way Elijah arrives on the scene, you would never know he weighs 165lbs. He hits like a linebacker but can also lock down a team's best receiver. His 15 pass breakups and 3 interceptions helped lead arguably the best defense in the state of Kansas to a State Championship in 2023. Elijah is the son of Jennifer and Trey Porter.

Jaden Scobee – Running Back

5'11 | 190 | Shawnee, Kansas | Mill Valley High School

Jaden does a fantastic job of making one cut and getting vertical when he runs the football. With incredible lower body strength, he is rarely tackled by the first defender which is evident by his 9+ yards per carry average. His 1000-yard rushing season helped propel Mill Valley to a State Championship in 2023. Jaden is the son of Jo Lynn and Jason Scobee.

Adrion Seals – Receiver

5'11 | 155 | Eudora, Kansas | Eudora High School

Adrion was a difference maker and a 1st Team All-State Athlete for the Cardinals in 2023. He averaged an astonishing 20+ yards every time he caught the football and 8+ yards every time he ran the football. Baker fans need to keep an eye on this young man in 2024. Adrion is the son of Lacey Kofron and Van Love-Scott Sr.

Evan Seifert – Linebacker

5'11 | 205 | Shawnee, Kansas | Mill Valley High School

The leader of the Jaguar defense will be in Baldwin City in 2024. Evan is a 2023 1st Team All State Linebacker with 85 tackles and over 9 tackles for loss and 4 State Championships. He diagnoses quickly and closes even faster. He joins teammates Tristan Baker and Jaden Scobee at Baker in 2024. He is the son of Vanessa and Jon Seifert.

Freddie Sheppard – Defensive Lineman

5'11 | 275 | Kansas City, Missouri | Truman High School

Freddie is an active interior Defensive Lineman that has size and physical hands at the point of attack. He's tough to block one on one and has the lower body strength to take on a double team. He joins defensive Patriot teammate Logan Treloar in the class of 24. Freddie is the son of Lakeisha and Donnie Paul.

Logan Treloar – Linebacker

5'10 | 210 | Independence, Missouri | Truman High School

Although Logan only played 3 games due to a broken arm, his presence was felt on the Patriot defense in 2023. With a high football IQ, great energy and a Team Captain's leadership he had 23 tackles, 3 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. He joins teammate Freddie Sheppard in the class of 24 for BU. Logan is the son of Kara and Will Treloar.

Trey Trennepohl – Receiver

5'11 | 160 | Wentzville, Missouri | North Point High School

Trey did everything for the Grizzlies in 2023 and helped lead them to a Class 5 Missouri State Playoff appearance. Between catching, running and returning the football he had over 1,100 total yards and 13 touchdowns for North Point in his senior year. Trey is the son of Kimberly and Joshawa Trennepohl.

Dezmond Winton – Receiver

5'9 | 158 | Wellsville, Kansas | Wellsville High School

Dezmond had an incredible senior year which saw the Eagles go 9-1 and garner Winton First Team All-League and All-State Honors. Dez had 46 receptions for over 900 yards with an unbelievable 20+ yards per reception and 15 touchdowns for Wellsville. He joins teammates Brody Lee and William Dorsey in the class for 2024 for Baker. Dezmond is the son of Janell Owings and Mark Winton.
