Simpson Earns Heart Special Teams Player of the Week Honors
BALDWIN CITY - Baker's Seth Simpson was named Heart Football Special Teams Player of the Week, presented by Musco, following his performance in the Wildcats' 26-16 comeback win over Missouri Valley on Saturday.
Battling gusty wind conditions, Simpson, a junior from Lee's Summit, Mo. matched a career best with four field goals in Saturday's victory. He kicked two field goals in each half with his furthest one coming on a 33-yarder to tie the game in the fourth quarter before knocking down a 32-yard field goal to ice the game late.
Simpson has been automatic in his three seasons as BU's kicker, especially the past two where he's gone 28-for-33 (85%) on field goals. Last year, he went a perfect 54-for-54 on extra-point attempts and has only missed two of 101 PATs in his career.
Earning the Wildcats' second special teams nod, Simpson became the fourth BU player to receive the Heart's weekly honor after PJ McCallop Jr. (Week 2, Special Teams), Truman Juelsgaard (Week 3, Offense) and Canon Karn (Week 4, Defense) all previously won the award.
Simpson and the Wildcats head into the bye week with a 4-1 overall record, including a perfect 3-0 at home. Baker returns to action on Oct. 19 with a matchup at William Woods, starting at 1 p.m. in Fulton, Mo.
