No. 15 Baker Picks Up Road Win at Clarke, 37-17

DUBUQUE, Iowa – No. 15 Baker held Clarke to just seven points in the second half to come away with a 37-17 victory over the Pride in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday for the Wildcats' seventh win of the 2024 season.

The Wildcats led 23-10 at halftime and added a couple of scores in the second half, while holding the Pride to just one touchdown to earn BU's fourth straight victory.

Baker put up over 300 yards of offense and got another touchdown from its defense with Zac Kramer recording a pick-six in the first quarter. Truman Juelsgaard tallied three rushing touchdowns, while Chauncey Andrews led the team with 59 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. Freshman wide receiver Billy Brooks hauled in a team-high six catches for 98 yards.

The Pride put together an 11-play scoring drive on the game's opening possession to take a quick 7-0 lead before the Wildcats responded with a touchdown of their own on their first trip down the field. A big pass play to Andrews set BU up inside the red zone before Juelsgaard punched in his first touchdown of the afternoon to tie things at 7-7.

After both teams traded punts, Kramer came through with a big play on the defensive end, picking off a pass and taking it all the way back for his second pick-six of the year. It was Baker's eighth defensive touchdown of 2024 which leads all of NAIA.

Clarke added a field goal to cut it to a four-point game, but the Wildcats closed out the half with 10 unanswered points with Andrews notching the second offensive touchdown for BU and Seth Simpson drilling a 38-yard field goal as time expired to give Baker a 23-10 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Pride got within one score yet again with a touchdown late in the third quarter.

Baker's defense got another key turnover with PJ McCallop Jr. tallying his fourth interception of the fall, setting up another rushing score for Juelsgaard to push the Wildcats' lead out to 30-17.

Juelsgaard capped the scoring with his third and final rushing touchdown of the game to seal the 20-point road victory for BU.

With a 7-1 overall record, the Wildcats have now won seven or more games in 16 of the last 17 seasons.

Up next, No. 15 Baker squares off against No. 12 MidAmerica Nazarene in a top-15 matchup next weekend with kickoff set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Olathe, Kan.
